I can hear my fuel pump when I start my '99 1.6 dohc lanos . It makes a sort of buzzing/whining sound . Should I be worried ?The car has done about 140000km (80000m)
Hi Gordon,
It's a sure fire sign of wear and tear of the armature and electrics within the Fuel Pump itself which is usually a sealed unit that can not be stripped down and repaired.
It's a very simple and easy job to change the Fuel pump and i would personally suggest that you replace it sooner rather than later as there is no warning signs to state that it's about to pack up, it will just pack up.
If you cup a hand around a Fuel pump that is operating normally with the engine running you should feel very little vibration and noise coming from it, but if the pump is worn the vibration is quite aggressive and loud.
Hope this is of some help to you Mate.

:word-thanks:Ill try and locate a pump asap
