Hi all. Newbie here.
I have just been quoted a scary price from main dealer (£860 before VAT and fitting) for a new exhaust system for my 2001 2.0CDX.
Any ideas where could source a system for considerably less money?
I really like my car, but at that price I am tempted to bodge a repair and trade it in.
Any help would be appreciated.

The underfloor cat is OK but just about every other part of the system is either holed already or ready to go (very very rusted).
The price I was quoted was including a new cat at £460+VAT.
Obviously, I will be reusing the cat but wondered if anyone had a good "source" of cheaper exhaust suppliers.
any kwik fit or such like should be able to get a much better price than the stealers.

Jeez HOW MUCH for an exhaust. Any of the highstreet Exhaust centres should be WAY cheeper than that. Even a Full stainless steel system wouldnt be that much.
Best thing to do is to shop around & play each garage off against each other untill you get a GOOD price. NEVER EVER go to the dealers for an exhaust.

I have found a local parts supplier who will supply all parts excluding the cat for £270.
I figure that isn't too bad as I will be doing the work myself and they are local (near Glasgow).
