Hello to everybody,
my 1996 glx, 16 valve nexia hasn´t got a regular an soft iddle.
Per example: the engine is at iddle and I acelerate untill 3000 rpm, I leave the foot out of the acelerator and the rpm needle goes down till 1200 rpm and stays there for +- 20 seconds than goes to 900 +- 10 seconds than to 600 and stays there, but is not regular. floats between 600 and 900 rpm at iddle. I've allready reseted the ecu but is the same.

Anyone can help me ?

it may be my favourite IAC valve, Idle Air Control Valve also known as a stepper motor!

I no its different car but principles are the same...
This was happening to my Lanos, sticking at cetain points then not finding a 'happy medium'....
I popped the bonnet, got me WD40 out and put it on the (okay im going to sound really stupid and blonde now) the little coily circle shapped thing that spins on its spring when you rev the car...few squirts on there and up the accelerator pedal tube thing...few revs and a quick drive, good as new...I've only had to do mine 2wice, it seems to be sorted now...

ICV?????
IAC Valve will be located on throttle body it will have wire conected to it remove these & IAC & it will look like a plunger with a spring!

Yeh vxzone, mine was also doing that, usually revving to about 3500, then slowly dropping, staying at 1500 for about a minute or so.....then returning to a normal 900 / 1000 ish...
Give the wd40 method (my practical and Bodies technical instructions) a go, and keep us posted mate..

both positions have wired electrical devices.

Whell, After digging a lot around the car, I changed the spark plugs to NGK, I changed the air filter, change the oil to magnatec 10/40,
Filled the petrol tank and poured STP fuel system cleaner.
After driving 100 km the car is now more responsive and the idle problem is bether now, but not disapeared.
Next step is to find IAC valve and clean it.

Can I just add my 2p's worth.
Check your hoses for Air leaks/breakages as well.

This is totally normal the car Should rev aroiund 1500 when its cold..Then when it warms up the revs will drop to about 800 rpm. The idle valve should keep the revs steady if it does then thats where you need to start!
