we have an 05 Kalos, had it from new and its well used (70 miles a day commuting) it now has 75k on the clock and its started to rack up problems
Apart from the aircon making a hideous noise and the control sensor light coming on which the dealer (after taking 500 quid) could not find a problem today it failed to start. it got my wife to work ok but just would not fire up for the return journey.
Engine turns over ok, just no fireing.
now the RAC bloke said , after sucking in through his teeth), yer timing belts gone....
Now I know little about cars , but all the stories I have heard about cam belt failure involve it going whilst the engines running.
Before we shell out wads on a car with is now worth 9/10's of F'all , could it be anything else ? will it be expensive / worth bothering with...y'know the sort of thing the usual mechanical ignoramus sort of questions.....

Thanks
Non starting! Have you tried the spare key? have you checked the immobiliser?
A/C hideous noise could be system just needs recharging?

I have not tried the spare key, I will give that a punt in the morning (The RAC dropped it off at a garage for us)

The Aircon was recharged but all to no avail....
