Hi Y'all & Thanks in advance for any insite and help with this.

Newbie to site Here! Tearhair Biggrin

My 2000 Laganza SE 2.2L has developed a problem where the PWR indicator light on dash panal comes on and off? I know this is the alarm indicator for the ECT for power or economy mode., On the electronic controlled transmission, The button switch on the shift handle, has No effect when I push it? It just keeps flashing on and off (PWR) Light on dash panel. It does appear that the trans- is stuck in power mode, where it shifts faster & harder through the 4 gears- but does go into OD. This is causing me increased fuel consumption, and it probably is not a good thing on the trans? Are there some diaognostic tests I can do? Anyone else have this problem?

Thanks
paul (Laganza01)

I'm guessing you're not in the UK? I've never seen a 2.2 here in Britain, and all my reading on the internet seems to imply it was far more common in the USA...

Anyhows, have you tried disconnecting the switch to see if that has any effect? Could just be sticking or making intermittent contact. Also, if you are in the USA, I think your car may be OBD-II compliant (just a guess), in which case a plug in scan tool should reveal any fault codes, including for the transmission which is electronically controlled.
