Unfortunatly it could be anything under the bonnet that has brought light on!
Did the car run any differently? Use more fuel?
Or did it not comeback on when car was restarted?

Hi, The light came on when I was driving back home. I turned the engine back on after half hour after being turned off and the light was still there when I restarted it. The car is not running any differently and it did not used any more fuel than usual.

The car that I have is Kalos SX, 2003 reg, the engine size 1.4 and it is a 8 valve. Took it for a run and the light stayed on.

Most likely the e.g.r valve..you need to get it scanned for dtc confirmation though..

As mentioned above, it would be useful to know if there's anything unusual that you've noticed about the car, like the way it drives, is it using more fuel etc. Then we can help some more

Still could be quite a few things. Try the ECU/ECM reset, pull the fuse out for the ECU in the main engine compartment fusebox, turn the ignition on the a couple of mins, switch off, replace fuse and see if it comes on again.

has the light come on when engine has been restarted?
If not I would just keep an eye on it, chances are it had a little blip in its system which its sorted itself

Hi! there. Well I'm a newbie on the Kalos block, so I've probably got this one wrong. However the fuse listed ECM, TCM,(ours is an auto gearbox), is according to the diagram in the handbook, located in the pull-open compartment, at the end of the interior dash panel, No.4 down in the left hand bank of fuses,10Amp? Not sure if yours is the same layout though.

If you have a DTC (Diagnostic Trouble Code ) reader,(not sure if yours is EOBD?) that may point you to a malfunctioning sensor somewhere? Is the battery 100%? Check all the earthing systems for good clean groundings, and as many connector plugs as you can find, for corrosion etc. Electronic diagnostics can be a real maze of confusion, but sometimes basic simple remedies work? Good luck.
