Hi all, new to the forum so please bear with me.
I have done a search but cannot find any info on my problem which is the airflow on the heater control. I have a 1999 2.0 CDX auto that will only blow to all outlets I can flick the switch from windscreen/face/face and floor etc but nothing happens. I have another Nubira that I took the heater control from that is working and put it on the newer car but it still won't work and if I swap the controls over it works on the older vehicle thereby ruling out the heater control unit but I can't for the life of me think where the problem lies. I did notice a small tube coming from the passenger foot well that seems to have something to do with the air/vacuum and made sure that was connected properly so I am at a loss.
I can live with the air being sent to all outlets but it is just annoying to know it must be something really simple that is totally evading me.
While searching I noticed posts asking where spares can be accessed from, well I use
http://www.247spares.co.uk just type in your registration and go from there, within 45 minutes someone will call you and offer you the spare part and a price, usually you will get 2-3 calls with different prices so you can make a choice. An example is 1 heater control delivered next day by TNT = £35.
Cheers
maybe sound daft but have you checked heater control cables are all connected not to the control panel itself but to correct areas further down tyhe dash area?. Im presuming the heater controls type you have are the twist jobbies?
Pipe in passanger footwell is the Air Con drain pipe this has a tendancy to clog up resulting in moisture taken from the air whilst A/C is on then draining into passenger footwell.

All electrics are working, air con, blower speed, rear window defrost and temperature cable are all OK. I wouldn't know how to get any further behind the dash as I only have access through the opening when I take the control out. The airflow is controlled by vacuum through small diameter piping at the rear of the control, I have tested this and air does indeed go to the different pipes when turning the control, so, somewhere at the end of these pipes and deep in the dash is where the problem may be, but how to I access them. What do I unscrew/prise apart to let me get behind the fascia. Sorry pic is out of focus but you get the idea

Thanks for the link, certainly a lot to take in

.
In most cases the advise is "Remove Fascia" or some other piece of plastic, but How, nowhere does it say "Take a look just underneath the ashtray and you will see a screw" or anything useful like that. I have broken many a piece of kit by prising it out only to find that there was a quick release tab hidden somewhere that I could have used. If I knew how to dismantle the glove box and centre cowling and maybe the dashboard without causing complete distruction of said parts then maybe, just maybe, I can get to the innards.

someone may have got the vac pipes wrong way round etc.
check both sides of the heater unit ie passenger side and drivers etc

Thanks Nelse, I will try that when I can get at the heater. How do I remove all the surrounding plastic covering/fascia, where are the screws located, I just can't see them.

Looks like I have stumped the panel on this one. Is there an enthusiast/mechanic or garage owner who read this forum and work on Daewoos in the Birmingham area able to repair this for me.

what do you actually want to remove?
complete dash?
trim around stereo?
trim under dash?

After taking out the heater control and radio I cannot get my hand any deeper to sort the problem so I need to remove the panels in the passenger footwell and driver footwell so that I can access the heater itself. On my other Daewoo Nubira there are screws in the panels but not on my recent acquisition which is a 1999 2.0cdx auto. I may also have to remove the glove box to follow the air pipes from the control to the heater.

gloveboxs are usually fairly simple I usually pinch them together around the stopper area to gain access behind if you catch my drift!
Do you need to remove centre console to get to the otgher panels that you need?
this is harder than it looks when you dont have a Nub to look at its been a fair few years since I ripped one to pieces

I tried that with the glove box but it only came forward another inch or so. Didn't want to force it just in case

I don't need to remove the centre console, not yet anyway, as I think the problem lies at the heater end which is down near floor level.
It may be simpler just to let an expert take a look as I am not mechanicaly minded anyway.

Hi billywiz
The air flow is controlled by one of the two cables at back of control panel. The outer cable mormally breaks away so that you end up with no control of air direction, and if both break then recirculation also. Normally after removing unit complete with cables attached you can remedy a permanent fix with superglue, or otherwise new cables/s from main dealer..

Thanks for the reply.
The only connections I have on the control are 2 electrical, 1 cable that adjusts the heat output and a plastic block with 6 air pipes.
I have checked all of these tubes and they are secure and one of them I can feel a slight vacuum, none of them are detached. It may be that they are detached further down the line but I cannot see anywhere to remove panelling to access where they lead to. I don't want to start pulling and prising pannelling only to crack or break it so my real dilemma is how to get at the other end of the tubing near the heater.
If I take the heater control out and put it on my other Nubira it works.

Hi again..forget my last..I was getting mixed up with lanos version. You should be getting quite a strong vacuum down to unit and if there are any leaks you will hear quite a pronounced hissing noise. The hose gets its vacuum supply from the inlet manifold. Follow the pipe through and make sure there are no kinks or air leaks especially between manifold and scuttle before going any further..
