Can anybody help with a recurring problem. About 6 weeks ago the front washer pump stopped working so swapped it for the rear one. That lasted about 3 weeks then also stopped. Managed to get a used pump which worked fine for about 2 weeks then stopped.!!!!!!!!! I don't want to buy another one if there is another problem which is causing them to break. Any suggestions?
Cheers
Kev

Hi My front windscreen washer has packed up on my Daewoo Matiz is it possible to change a fuse to fix this or reset the motor I have not found a fuse box and dont know where the washer motor is can you help please from newbie DaveHelen
to access washer pumps remove o/s/f wheel & inner splash guard & u will see the pumps inside wheel arch behind front bumper and replace motor

Am positive its illegal to drive a vehicle with a inopertive washer wiper system
p.s dont 4get to visit newbies section & say HELLO

I had to buy a new washer pump from Daewoo(chevy) cost about £18 inc vat. When I spoke to the partsman and explained my problems about the number of pumps I had used he said it was down to me using screenwasher fluid. He said it clogged up the pump and blew the motor. I now use vinegar
That's very odd, that screenwash would clog your motor up?! Sounds like the Chevvy person may have told a porkie!
screen wash does clog up the filter on motor!
The way round it is dont buy screen wash that is already mixed as its to strong If you do use it still water it down 50/50

Ahh, well I'm afraid I've never tried the ready made.
I'd only use a drop of a descent screenwash, usually 80% water.

another solution is dont mix screenwash always use the same one!
And keep a supply of it in your boot, ready mixed as I'm sure the gritters will be out on the roads soon!

I recently had two dead Matiz screen washer motors and turned to this website to find out how to get to them, Thanks for the info. it was really useful, Having got them out and priced them at £18 each ! ! I noticed it was possible to detect a very slight internal movement when shaked (the other motor appeared to be solid) so I gave it a few 'taps' on the flat base and to my surprise it started working, I did the same to the other dead motor and within 10 mins. both motors were fully operational. So before you throw your old motors away give it a try, Tap the flat base onto a wooden surface 5 or 6 times (not too violently, remember they are made of plastic), I can't say how long they will last, But at the moment they work first time every time
Cool advice here, thanks.
carp fishing screenwash does go lumpy after years of topping up; either that or some numoty has chucked washing up liquid in there...
In the past I have removed my washer reservoirs to scrub them out to get rid of the mould and lumps, ran some neat quality screenwash through the lines after popping them off the nozzle jets, then some hottish water and they have been fine.
