Hello everyone,,

Hope you all Matizer’s doing OK. Wow2

This is a great forum and I am happy to finally find it. I have read most posts on Matiz.

I am a newbie and seeking a technical advice for my Matiz.
It is all stock as I can see and I am the third owner. Unfortunately the previous owner was the type of fuel-and-run. When I first got it, it had a bad hesitation problem when accelerating in low RPM. I changed the distributor to brand new, HT leads, timing belt, IAC valve (did idle-learn several times), new BOSCH fuel pump motor, cleaned throttle body (it was clogged with smug from oil vapors), changed air filter, spark plugs, tightened vacuum hoses.

Scan tool shows no DTCs, the MIL is not ON, O2 sensor readings are normal, although it is spiting black water drops off the exhaust tail pipe, but not oily (Thanks heavens!). no leaks in exhaust system. Combustion Chamber pressure fine, inlet/outlet valves sounds fines and in sync.

No overheating problem (cleaned radiator and added good anti-freeze fluid), battery voltage good, starter motor fine and always starts the car at first key turn. Checked ground terminals and cleaned any rusty ones. Cleaned all relay terminals and all fuses checks OK.

MAP working fine, no vacuum leaks as far as I found (no hissing sounds, check with spraying carburetor cleaner all around). TPS move in a normal and not ristricted way. PCV is fine.

As you can see, I spent a fortune over this car. Now it is better but, still has hesitation in low RPM, 1st and 2nd gear shifts are the worst, engine bit rough at idle and tends to die off when turning the throttle from engine side.

Mileage is not good (I suppose but not sure. Runs approx. 370 Km with 30 Lt. of unleaded 92 octane petrol. In-city driving and some highway).

Next step, I figured, is to replace the fuel injectors. Maybe they clogged or leaking or not fine-atomizing fuel as they should (Originals by Siemens. Not sure though).

I found new injector for Daewoo Lanos 1.5L. but cant find new for Matiz where I am living. It is very hard to find parts for Matiz here (BTW I am from Egypt.)

The question is, will injectors for Lanos work on Matiz? (They fit same connection harness!).

Will they increase fuel consumption?

Will they improve the rough idling and low rev hesitation?

If this did not work I properly should take it to nearest dump and just set it on fire…. Tearhair

And BTW, mechanics do not like to work in it, so its all DYS type of work.

Please help anyone! Alright

A big HELLO to you. as for injectors im pretty sure Lanos ones wont work, have you tried removing old ones & giving them a clean up in some injector cleaner?
The early MKI matiz in the UK could have a modification done to the wiring around the injector area when there was a hesitation.
Maybe worth an email to someone on that. If it was me I would try emailing some one like Ross
here http://www.daewooclub.co.uk/forums/showt...p?tid=1479 post number 2 if you mark it FAO Ross on Oli's email address tell them Paul who was at Daewoo Ipswich (ME) Biggrin sent ya, wth any luck they will still have some techs who remember the modification who can advise ya Thumbsup
Hello Bodie

I don’t know why, but I was pretty sure you would be the first to reply to my post. Good for me! Thumbsup Thumbsup

OK then. The Lanos injectors are now off the plan. Good thing you told me otherwise I would have spent another fortune over them without the desired result.

I did take out the injectors and on the outlet side, around the exit point of the fuel there was some build-up like dark varnish. I cleaned them as much as I can, but I am pretty sure that the inside is still dirty and the injectors does not shut-off all the way to the end. Cyl 1 & 3 in particular were obviously dirty.

Also tried injector cleaning fuel additives. (STP gray bottle with long neck). Did some good, but obviously in a late stage.

Unfortunately, we do not have the fancy machines you hook to your injectors rail and flush the injectors. Some mechanic even denied that such equipment even exists. can you believe it?

Do you have a suggestion to do some stone-age injector cleaning?

I will try to reach Ross and hope he is still around and tell him you sent me. Although I am not quite sure how one can modify harness for injectors, but its worth a try though.

Many thanks for your assistance Bodie >>>> Thankyou
try taking injectors out overnight & leave them soaking in some injector cleaner maybe a 75 / 25 mix of cleaner & petrol??? and see how that goes. You just never know lol
OK - will do that.
Just keep an eye on them lol If there are any rubber seals on them that come off and on easily then remove these & put them somewhere safeThumbsup
Hello Bodie

And all you Matizers,,,

Since my last post, I tried to clean the fuel injectors and that did not do any good. The car still hesitates and surges at low RPM. Although I did the best I can to clean the injectors, I still thought they are bad.

I took a long trip from where I am living to try get new ones (about 600 Km back and forth) and I spent a little fortune on the way. When I bought new injectors, I could not wait to get back home. I found myself a shady tree in an isolated street and left the engine to rest and cool down. I disassembled the fuel injectors rail and fixed new ones and they were a perfect match. Crossfingers

Installed the fuel rail back, hooked the fuel tube and crancked normally ... horrrrrrrrraaaaaaaaaaay

Nothing changed.. it is still the same. Wow2 ThumbsdownThumbsdownThumbsdown

Drove home very sad and decided to leave the car for while.

Few days a go a friend told me about a good mechanic and said go and let him decide one last time what could be the problem. I thought its worth a shot.

One afternoon I drove to the mechanic place (my Matiz was the smallest and properly the cheapest) and described to him what is happening. He was surprised I changed all those things!!

Anyway he hooked the scan-tool to DLC and as usual, no DTC found, but he noticed that the intake manifold pressure is fluctuating out range on acceleration and VOI LA ,,, it was a broken manifold with a very fine crack.

We changed the intake manifold and since then it is running like a charm…

The mechanic charged me a bundle, but its worth it. I have my Matiz running normal once again.

The moral of this story is; do not go changing parts unnecessarily. You will be losing both time and money.

Just take your car to some one who knows what he / she doing, take second and third and fourth opinions before taking out your wallet.

Now I can start thinking of accessories.Biggrin I want a digital Tachometer ... any ideas??

Cheers,,, Wave
I like a story with a happy ending. Biggrin

update...

after installing new manifold, my fuel economy improved greatly. now i have 49.4 mpg.

is that good ?
Hello again

i am still trying to figure out where to attache the green wire for a tacho

i don't want to miss around the ECU harness, can I pick a signal from the scan tool connector under the dash on passenger side??

can anyone help please?

any tips please?? Biggrin

thank you all for assiatnce.
Hi shankosi what type of scan tools you use on your matiz????

hello,

you dug out my first post, back then My Matiz was in very bad shape. its better now.

I don't use a scan tool as i am not able to find the OBD cable where I am living. Ratsssssss....

instead i got myself a set of after market gauges fixes in baud, modified the shape a bit and connected the wires. so now i have permanent secondary cluster, fixed above the original, to give me RPM, coolant temp and oil pressure. I still can figure a place to hook up the oil pressure sending unit though so its just like blinking endlessly with number (100) on the digital display.

nevertheless a scan tool is good, have to wait for Santa this Christmas and i behaved good, may be he will get me one Biggrin

cheers....
Ok thanks for your answer ShankosiWinknkiss ....

I see that you are a good handyman. However I will search somebody to help me to make a project by Making an OBd diagnostic cable
for matiz It is really simple to do but I don't know if it will work. And most it is really difficult to found software on the web which are compatible with matiz ecm data stream.

I bought an rs232 to ttl converter on a site web but before I use it ,I need an oscilloscope ...unfortunately it is expensive in Mauritius but at soon I could buy it.... Smile

If you understood electronic devices by how they work, You can do it yourself .....
