hi all,

my matiz 2001 develops a funny noise as soon as i start to get past around 40....

its a cyclical style noise, kicks in as soon as i start to push it past around 40.... it fades after a while then comes back, especially if i push the engine... ie go up to higher speeds or stay at 65+

any thoughts would be much appreciated. as i said in my newbie post it is my first car, so i am green (but not stupid and would really appreciate any help in fixing this.

i'm guessing its something to do with the fan belt?

is it coming from the engine or could it be a wheel bearing noise.
if you get upto speed then knock it outta gear so the engine just idles does the noise stay or go?
