Hello,

My Matiz is having the following issues, sometimes the engine is so noisy (like valvle noise) and sometimes not and it's consume is higher than normal, it's around 10 km/lt when it used to be 13 km/lt in the city, apart from that I don't have any problem, the car works well. My Matiz has 103.000 km and It's been a long time that I don't do it any service, only change the oil each 5.000 km.

I would like to know if someone of you had experienced this or know about it and what could be a solution, I'll appreciate your asistance.

Many thanks.
Possible timing? Worth checking?

Hello,

to achieve best fuel consumption in Matiz you need to:

1) Use correct fuel grade. for Matiz its 91 or next available octane grade.
2) Make sure your car is breathing healthy, meaning always make sure you air filter is clean.
3) Use correct engine oil grade (I think 10W50).
4) Make sure that your spark plugs are the correct gap size (0.9mm~1.1mm).
5) Make sure your exhaust pipe is not restricted and flows easily.
6) Make sure the fuel injectors are spraying fuel properly and not leaking.
7) Make sure you do not have any air leaks, especially around the inlet manifold.
Cool Make sure you drive the car quietly and do not push it over its very modest limits.
9) Do not idle for long time.
10) Maintain tires pressure at little bit over the recommended PSI, say 30PSI.
11) Make sure your brakes are not dragging and working properly.
12) make sure all your wheel bearings are working correctly.
13) Make sure your suspension system is working to standards.
14) Make sure your spark plug wires are replaced in intervals of no more than two years apart.
15) Drive at higher gear as much as possible.
16) Use the highway instead of around-town, even if longer.
17) each now and then, take the car out for a nice long drive to clean the engine from carbon deposits build up. kin'da stretch her legs Biggrin
1Cool drive safely and consciously. it does not matter if you can move it, more important to know how to stop it.

all above points are not applicable to Matiz in particular, but all cars in general as long no major issues had happened and I bet this will increase your MPG up to 16~17Km/L
and I always say, treat your car as you would like it to treat you back.

have fun..
