Hey all Smile

Our lovely W plate Matiz se+ is now in full use and being enjoyed. Now i tend to care for it all the time, clean it thouroughly in and out, engine cleaned regulary, alloy wheels cleaned and the whole car polished and waxed, lol its getting spoilt but its also getting lots of love Wink . I have been suggested by my dad why dont i colour code the dash surround (currently standard, in black colour) , the door handles outside and the door mirrors outside like on the later matiz's from about 2003/2004? If i did i would spray them several coats of metallic silver as the colour of our Matiz is metallic silver, then spray several coats of laquer.
Now i got 2 or 3 cans of metallic silver and a few cans of good quality laquer.

Now i can do the mirrors and the door handles easily with ease but....The question which i beg to ask you all is, how do i remove the black dash surround on my matiz? Is it simple of difficult? Would it require much care? I know that the bit of it thats arround the seedometer dials e.t.c has a few screws which i will unwind, but how do i take the rest off, e.g the whole thing round the centre console? Does it just pop or prise out with a flat minus screwdriver or what? I ask as i would hate to risk damaging it or cracking it, my dad would not be very happy lol and i'd be gutted! Sad
HELP PLEASE, it would be highly appreciated!! Smile
Cheers all,and i appreciate all the replies.

hello Dan,

this is how it goes.

you will have to take out the 5 screws holding the surround, get a minus screwdriver and cover it with soft towel and insert it gently under the surround and prey it off once at a time. this actually will require using some physical force. its not that easy.

now that have preyed it off, wait do not just pull it all way out. remember that you have some harness plugs that needs to taken off the surround like the hazard lights immobilizer, fog lights switch.

once all harnesses in this section are clear, just pull it out and you are good to go.

now be an angel and do post some pics when your doing this.
Thank you so much for that Smile As above Smile I understand it and it does make sense to me. I shall be doing it when the weathers good here. At the moment its rainy and drizzly, so not exactly perfect weather for spray painting lol Wink
You can count on that! I will do , i'll post up some pics once its all been done.
Cheers! And much appreciated Wink
Dan.
why not just find a surround from a MKII SE+ Matiz as these are already silver in colour as for how to removing surround look in tech naswers in Matiz area as its covered on stereo removal Thumbsup
I could do, but i'm looking at not spending any money Smile And.....i want to atemp to remove it to spray silver as i love a job done at home and i love a challenge lol ,i have never done this before hehe
Will do it as soon as weather here in wales starts to perk up lol ! haha Wink
Cheers,
Dan
