Only had my daewoo for 2 weeks and already it's got a problem! It's the 1999 0.8L one.

Was running fine until today when it was feeling a bit jerky so poped the bonnet open to have a look. Found that there was a frequent (2-3 per second) visible spark on the right hand thick wire connecting to the ignition coil. It seems to go round the outside of the ignition coil from the front to back :S

Can anyone suggest what this may be? Is it just a loose connection that needs fixing or something a bit more serious? Im assuming that this is whats causing the roughness of the engine (not as powerful a spark)

Thanks for any help
Sounds like the insulation on the coil lead has broken down. Not sure which wire you are talking about but you should be able to get a new lead and fit it quite easily and this should sort out your problem.
hello,

as Jon said, it may be only a lead. if the coil itself is cracked then you should replace the coil.

take you Matiz to very dark place - not inside a closed garage though - and turn it over, open the bonnet and try to locate the source of the jumping spark. but never think about touching it, else you will zapped badly (about 40000~45000 volts).

if it turned out that the insulation or body of the coil is bad, replace it immediately and do not try to fix it. its dangerous and could start a fire under the hood.

good luck..
