Hello all,
I am desperately in need of some information, especially somebody from Kerala, South India.
I have a Matiz SD 1999 and its ac compressor has gone. When I checked with the mechanic, he said its not a good idea to repair and use. Now I am in search for a new compressor for Matiz. I think it is made by Delphi. Anybody knows where I can avail the compressor in India?
Or if its not available in India, I am willing to purchase it from UK, only if I can afford the prize. How much does it cost there? Will it be suitable for my Matiz?
Please somebody help....
hello,

the mechanic workshop is not a good place to start repairing your AC.

there are technicians who are specialized in repairing AC and that is where you should start.

a good AC technician will start by checking the gas pressure in the AC system, to see if it contains gas or has it gone out of the system due to some kind of gas leak.

next, he will compress the system with plain air to see where is the gas leaking from. it might end up to be a bad gasket or a bad hose that needs to be replaced, which in all cases will much cheaper than purchasing a new compressor.

if it is proven that the compressor is bad then you should try to fix it because it is serviceable and it might need a repair kit (gaskets and oil seals), which once again much cheaper than replacing the entire compressor.

if the compressor is hopeless (which I highly doubt), then you can get a replacement from scrappers for little value.

the compressor will be very expensive in UK, calculated in Indian Rupees, and shipping will be as well.

you are better off buying it from China.

so find yourself a good AC technician first before buying parts from overseas.

I was in the same situation and I was in believe that I will never get my AC working again unless I get a new one and will cost me like 17000 Indian Rupees (about £230) and i took time to visit many AC technicians until I found one who fixed it, charged the system with gas and it has been working for a year and a half without problems, as matter I LOVE IT Heart

anyway this is only my opinion and good luck

Hello friend,
Thank you so much for your response. Actually I have checked with an ac technician and he only concluded that the compressor is hopeless. Here Daewoo stopped its production nearly 9 years back. So sareparts availability is very poor.
Anyway I will have to find a solution..
Thanks
