hi there, 1st post on here as i just aquired a 2001 0.8L matiz, so hello! Smile

It came with a good sony cd player installed but alas the original front speakers have not been upgraded and sound like a couple of tin cans trying their best to reproduce sound.

i would like very much to upgrade the front speakers and if this was too difficult a job, to install two new rear speakers, if that also was not too much of a pain. wud rather to it myself as opposed to take it to a place to get fitted etc.

i did a search for other speaker threads and the only advice related to my query was that the rear speakers are 'easy enough to wire up 15-20 minute job to lay the wiring behind the trims'

does this mean that the wires are already there (under the seat or something i presume as i saw some wires there????) and rear speakers are handy enough to fit?

as for the front speakers - is it easy enough to remove the door panels (i take it this is what has to be done?) to fit new speakers?

if anyone has done this before let me know what type you got etc as dont want to put ones in that are as rubbish as the ones already in it!

thanks for your help
david
easy jobs what spec is your matiz?

what sort of details you after?

the exact car spec is DAEWOO MATIZ SE 2001 796cc Five Door Hatchback Manual Petrol, aint been modified in anyway.

i would say all of the original wiring for the audio is standard also, the only thing changed is the cd player that was put in.
I am currently doing the same for my matiz, For the rear speakers I had to buy some adapters so the new speakers would fit in place, I havn't looked at the front speakers yet but I will be soon.
there we go SE is what we are after front door card removal most difficult bit is removing the window winders. what I use for this is an old small file remove handle, where handle was very last 2mm bend to a 90 degree bend now window winder have the handle pointing down and gently with a kitchen knife prise the bit that it spins on away from the door card so you can see down inside it down there you will find a horse shoe shaped clip pop in your file and then turn it until the hook part of it is in the horse shoe clip.
Put down your kitchen knife and put your hand over the top of the winder and gently pull on the file (other hand is to stop the horse shoe clip pinging away to never never land.
Next remove all the screws including the one hidden in all the grot thats in the door handle, pop out door handle with your kitchen knife and then gently pull away the job card.
As for rear speakers there may or may not be speaker wires if not then you need to get the stereo out which is covered in the important threads Matiz are and then tech answers and you will find my post on how to remove stereo Thumbsup
Ill add that the front speakers are a 10cm standard i just cut the plugs on mine and crimped on some speaker terminals so they will take aftermarket speakers i presume someware may do an adaptor to save you cutting off the plugs if you dont want to. as for the rears they are on the sides of the parcel shelf are a 6x4 speaker and while the SE does have the place for them the pannels dont have the screw mounts or the holes in the pannels to let the sound out (i may be wrong with that but thats how it is on my mates SE)
Here are teh adapters bikerdude said you can get, Ebay Link
