lumpy idle,...
whole car shakes, upon opening the bonnet you can see the engine moving a good inch on its bottom mounts. sounds like a diesel at tickover (900), but runs fine above 1000 revs.

its for and aft movement, i.e. transverse relative to the block...

ive access to an engine crane and could take the weight of the block whilst changing the lower mounts, but wondered if anyone else has had similar?

2.0 uk spec engine.

Sounds like the pistons are a bit wobbly. Not sure how this would happen though!

Has the car been driven in higher gears prematurely and caused the pistons to distort?

I'm probably going off on a wild one there though, more likely a fuel problem eh...?

Glad you found the cause, probably a speed record for diagnosis!

Have fun with the repairs and the pics will be great!

It would be logical to say that they are different as the cylinders should be larger on the 2.2.

But then again....

I would try and source a gasket for a 2.0 to be sure to be sure!

depends if the difference is in bore or stroke, some of the Jap stuff (i also run a skyline) has different displacement with same head gasket.

RE: lumpy idle,...
well this is turning inot a bit of a "how too" thread for anyone else who like doing the spannering.

cam belt off today....and interestingly the main crank pulley is in two parts. is this "normal" looks like some kind of rubber between the innet and outter?

1 camshafts now out, and the camshaft gears off.
need to get into here..
..the conections for the injectors toremove the fuel rail, then unbolt the inlet manifold. under this ...
also found the power steering fluids seen better days .....
and just for interest ..heres "my" car ....the skyline as mentioned before
[Image: DSCN1183.jpg]
i'll post up the pics of cleaned up stuff as i get on....

also need to get the ignition coil off, but gotta move the header tank first.

RE: lumpy idle,...
apparently the gm/daewoo engine in 2.0 was also known as the L34...

it sounds like i "may2 be able to fit a c20xe "red top" head to the block, as all the c20 blocks were the same apart from the turbo variant...

handy to know if i find the heads knackered! (though i doubt it)
