2001 Daewoo Nubira LOTS OF OIL EVERYWHERE!!

Hello,

How are you all doing today? I hope all is well with everyone. My mother asked me I can take a look at her car as its bee acting strange a little bit lately. I was informed that once in a while, the car almost stalls at when at a complete stop. It shakes around as if it's about to cut power and die but then goes back to regular idle. I have no experienced this on her car as of yet from my little test drive around my neighborhood. However, I have noticed several times that the start makes a VERY strange sound when starting up. So far I only noticed this sound during cold starts. It's a very loud grinding like sound. I'm going to make a audio recording in the morning to see if I can capture the sound again.

After a little drive around the street I waited for the car to cool down a bit before taking a deeper look and when I pulled the park plug wires it was DRENCHED in dirty oil. Didn't look that dirty but it was dirty. I pulled out every spark plug wire and it was crazy! I have never seen anything like this. I then proceeded to remove the spark plugs and they too were covered in ALOT of oil. Basically looks like someone took the spark plug cover off, pulled the spark plugs and spark plug wires out and decided it was a good idea to poor about a Litre of oil into each spark plug chamber. I was like this Obviously no one did that but just to give you an idea of how much oil was around the plugs and wires. If you guys want pictures I'll gladly take some and post it up.

Now I'm no mechanic but I know my way around vehicles and I'm capable for the most part on working on engines. I do all of my own work on my Honda Prelude and I've had my fair share of oil leaks here and there on distributor caps, VTEC solenoids and once on a valve cover/spark plug hole gasket but I've NEVER EVER seen anything like this before! This is nuts!

I live in the lower mainland of British Columbia, Canada and no matter where I go to ask for parts I get... "Daewoo? The the #@$#@ is that?" I had to replace my mothers door lock thingy (the part that's on the edge of the door and touches the hook on the frame) not that long ago and trying to find that part was difficult until someone I knew at a wrecker told me they have one Daewoo Nubira in Calgary, Alberta so I got lucky on that. I'm assuming this leak is due to a bad valve cover gasket but I could be wrong and I have a feel that I am. But if this leak is not caused by a valve cover gasket and its something worse like major scoring in the cylinders or something even worse then I will be hooped on trying to find parts.

So my questions are the following....

1) Where is this leak coming from?
2) What needs to be replaced? Valve cover gasket, Spark plug hole gaskets?
3) Does anyone have a 2001 Daewoo Nubira service manual?
4) Has anyone encountered this short of thing before on their Daewoo Nubira?
5) How does one go about to fixing this issue?
6) Where can I purchase parts? (I live in Canada so finding someone that can ship overseas would be great!)
7) Is it just a valve cover gasket or is this car in a lot of trouble so don't even bother fixing it?

Any help is always greatly appreciated.
Looking forward to hearing from you.

Thank you
Cheers
I am in need of new tires.Currently i have 195/55/15 tires, and was wondering if i could use 195/60/15?This car has short transmission and RPM easily goes over 3000 on highway so maybe i could save some fuel with slightly bigger tires? My local tyre dealer said that it is ok to use 195/60/15.

Any disadvantage about this?
The base of the gear-stick vibrates when its in gear and the engine is revving, and the vibration causes a metallic "tizzing" sound.
If you rest your hand on the gear stick and move it just one or two millimeters, the noise can stop and come back.
It looks wet because I have just sprayed it with tonnes of white grease, which didn't make a difference.
Any idea how to sort this out? It's really annoying and is sometimes loud enough to drown out the radio and engine!

Got a Daewoo Lacetti 1.6sx (55 Plate) and got a few problems I'm hoping someone can help with:

1) ABS - this kept cutting in and out at low speeds. I have been told that I have a broken tooth on the reluctor ring. I see reluctor rings are cheap, is it possible to just replace the ring or is it a new drive shaft? If it's a new ring can this be done without heating it up?
2) Can someone post a fuse box diagram/ list of fuse numbers with their function?
Thanks in advance!!

Can anyone tell me what's wrong with my car please?

I was driving this evening when the car starting jolting, then it decided to cut off (quietly) This happened a few times and during rush hour traffic!! The petrol light was on (although the tank was almost full) along with 2 other lights. I put in more petrol just incase but that didnt work. The car continued to cut out so I pulled over and called the AA. The guy said it was the coil pack that needed replacing. The car starts ok but just cuts out randomly. I've only had this car 2 days and only passed my test 2 weeks ago so I am after a second opinion before I buy a part I may or may not need.

Any advice welcome please!!

Hi,

My central locking is locking the doors fine but leaving the boot still open! The boot can only be locked manually and this is a pain. Is there a quick fix for it? Any advice/experience from people on how to fix this would be received gratefully.

Near the top of the Don't-strip-or-break-it list are spark plugs. Nobody wants damaged threads in a cylinder head or half a spark plug frozen in place. Unfortunately, the potential for problems increases when high mileage spark plugs are left untouched in relatively soft aluminum cylinder heads.

Watch Pat Goss's hands-on tips for removing spark plugs without breaking them. Hopefully you will learn a few things that will keep the next spark plug change fun, not nerve wracking.
Listed under Extras and some specific car models, RockAuto has spark plug non-foulers and spark plug hole chaser tools that can clean up damaged threads.
